As we head into the heart of the Winter athletic season, excitement is high! Our student-athletes and coaches have been working incredibly hard, and seeing our stands filled with supportive families makes a huge difference to them.
I am writing to ask for your partnership in making our sporting events a positive experience for everyone. At Woodbury School, we view athletics as an extension of the classroom. It is a place where students learn resilience, teamwork, and integrity.
To support this learning environment, we ask that all spectators keep the following in mind:
- Cheer for, not against: Let’s fill the air with encouragement, rather than negativity toward the opposing team. These athletes are kids- learning, growing, and giving their best.
- Respect the Officials: Referees and umpires are human and often have difficult jobs. Without them, there is no game. Please respect their calls, even when you disagree.
- Let Coaches Coach: Our coaching staff is dedicated to developing the team. Please allow them to direct the players while you enjoy the game from the stands.
- Be a Role Model: Our students look to the adults in the stands to see how to handle intense moments. Let’s show them what class and composure look like.
Woodbury Gym Event Reminders:
- No food or drinks are allowed inside the gym (water only).
- Younger siblings are welcome and encouraged to cheer on our athletes, but they must be supervised at all times while visiting Woodbury.
Sincerely,
Matthew K. Barry
